CAMDEN TOWN – LONDON

The stalls, the street art, the people, the music… a couple of things that make a place like Camden Town the heart and soul of London.

Going on a splurge in Oxford Street is inevitable to anyone who pays a visit to London. Nevertheless, the place is too crowded; everyone is too rushed to finish whatever they’re meant to be doing. You’ll find people bumping into you or stopping abruptly to send a text right in the middle of the pavement… in a nutshell, Oxford Street isn’t the place to go to if you want to get away from the hustle and bustle of the city. While Camden is still a relatively busy place in London, it is a place that has a lot of character.

I particularly love the 3D artworks on the facades on Camden High Street, especially when they’re situated near older buildings. Be it tattoo parlours, gift shops, shoe shops… they stand out to you. Additionally, it is also another place that is a haven for any street art lovers.

Camden offers something for everyone. If you loved the film Bedknobs and Broomsticks as much as I did (and still do), I’ve always felt that Camden is very similar to Portobello Road. It offers an eclectic mix of shops and stalls selling antiques, books, vintage clothes, handmade designs. Whether you’re treating yourself or on the look out for gift ideas, Camden has it all. Even though I’m a very fussy eater, I have to admit that the choice of food from all over the world that is offered at the Market is very tempting. Perhaps I’ll finally decide to try something new next time I pay a visit.

Simply put, Camden is another place that allows you to fit in so easily. Everybody goes about their business and no one bats an eyelid. You can be wearing anything you want and you will still feel part of the place. Camden’s distinctiveness is what makes it one of London’s most incredible places to go to.
